Unlucky Nov ~~~

Finally have some free time to catch my breath now... after some "exciting encounter" in the early Nov and my 1st sem exam which is 2/3 completed. But there is still more to come next week: the SCSM 2008 (Full marathon) and my final paper on Friday. Well, juz to summarize my luck for this month, it is actually pretty "suai" for me.
1st - 2 weeks ago (8th nov), i juz fell down from my bicycle after making my delivery for my 1st ever overseas postage to UK. i missed my footing on my left bike peddle and slipped to my left, causing serious scratches along my left forearm, leg and even my hip bone. That's not the worst, for the postage that i sent overseas, i have under-charged the buyer for abt SGD$5! i have to cover up that cost myself! Then for the following 2 weeks, i have to limp ard to work, to school and home. Such a disaster, lost $$$ and injured too.
2nd - next is the bicycle that i fall down from, which i just found out from my mum on Wed, it is stolen which i locked juz outside my staircase!!! Argh~~~ Heartless ppl who have to make my trip to post office next time even harder... by walking. Sad, curse the theft to fall down too. Haha...
And that's all for this blog today. i am getting more & more lazy to write blog nowadays. Haizzz... Take care! Not to forget my collection of the day. Select 500: Cesc Fabregas - the newly appointed Captain of Arsenal. Hope to see more of his good performance to come for this talented youngster. :)

(Work & Study) * infinity

Last week is a short working week, only 2 days. Stuck at home for the past 5 days of rest, trying to force myself to revise or at least study a bit of my uni stuff. Nowadays, i am finding that the time is not enough for me. Mon, Wed, Fri, 3 days gone. Then left only Tues & Thur after work to revise. Then for weekend, worst. No mood to study, so really have to get myself going now, else is too LATE!!!

At work, i am always stuck in an endless loop, keep on repeating the same routine everydays without failed. And being the "hands" of the enginner, which means that i will only do measurement or analysis, nothing else. The conclusion or result? I will never know. Despite that i am the one doing all this, i was never get involved in any discussion or explanation. For instance, i was told to do this, then after do all the necessary things, data collected and sent. That's it. The findings, conclusion, result, report etc will never get back to me, if yes, only verbally. So far, only one of my boss will always keep me in the loop abt the issue. Others? Nope. Sometimes, even need a 3rd party to inform me abt it. Its like i am collecting all the jigsaw pieces by pieces together without able to know the puzzle at the end. Sad to say that, in fact its has been always like this for so long.

Well, really can't be bother by this. If not, there will be more white hair for me. Having start my part-time study now, which means that i have to be stuck in this loop for the coming next 4 yrs time. Juz pray i can endure that long... ...

*** Sorry for another complaining post...

*** Mont Saint Michel (France) - After all the nagging, at least this place will keep me focus and relax. Hmm... Maybe 4yrs later will go France again to look for this. Endure...

BIRTHDAY month...

Oh, it's Sunday today, sad. Tmr need to work again... But it's ok, since next week i only have school on Mon & Wed. This month is a very BIRTHDAY month to me. My sec frens CJ, YR & IVAN is celebrating birthday @ 5th, 15th & 19th respectively. My colleague's son is @ the 12th and my bro is today, the 21st. So many ppl born at this September except in different yr. Wish all of them a Happy Birthday, good health and have a successful future ahead.

Ytd juz been to my ex-colleague charlet at Downtown East together with my present colleagues. Too bad, i am having a sore throat then, so can't really able to eat too much BBQ's food. But, i spent my time trying to lure those babies of my colleagues to let me carry.

The babies are as followed:

1. AL's baby gal. She is so cute and chubby with a mushroom-shaped hair. She let me carry her very easily, but quite an effort to carry her.

2. LC's baby boy. He also have a very chubby face with a mohawk hair-style. This one is easy too, but juz that he has juz drank milk. And the moment i carry him with him facing me, he throw up those milk on me. Eer...

3. LY's baby. He is a very handsome-looking boy. This one is the hardest of all. No one has the chance to carry him, except his mum.

4. The other 2 babies of YP's & Alicia's, i didn't attempt.

So beside sweating over the BBQing of food, i also have the smell of those milk. ~~~

Fernando Torres (Liverpool) - From Series 38, this is the most sought after normal blister currently.

Sleepless nightzzz....

It's been a long time since i can start to blog again. After 1 month of juggling between part-time study and work, i could hardly have a nice sleep during weekdays. So i will be looking towards the weekend every week now.

Yesterday, juz goto took my 2nd IPPT at Tampines SAFRA. And yes, is w/o $$$ again, this time round, i flop. And likewise for my other 2 frens. They fall out earlier than me in the 1st few laps, but i fall out at the last 400m!!! Only taken 2 egg tarts as my breakfast and i am too hungry to continue my last 400m, sad... So be it, will take it again during Dec period when my exam over.

So another day has gone, and today i have juz completed the KPE 10km run. The timing is: 1:19:19 (hh:mm:ss). 10mins slower than my normal 10km timing. This is partly due to the air ventilation in the tunnel. At certain point, it was very humid and stuffy. Worst, one ppl fainted along the way back. Luckily, he's fine afterward. Its really a nightmare running in the tunnel, coz what you look ahead is the endless turns and the bright sides at the very end. Every turns will still see the light beyond ur reach. Its like an infinity tunnel. And indeed, its the longest road tunnel in S.E.A. Haha...

SAFRA Army Half Marathon 2008 (24th Aug 08)

Woke up 5 am today, reached there by 6.20am & flagged off at 6.45am. Today i have participated in the SAFRA Army Half Marathon, this time round, no more "rice dumpling" as breakfast! Instead, i ate breads which can last me longer.

After 2 months plus since the Passion run in June, i have not make a single running session ever since, and it really took its toll on me. For the start, i do some slow jogging, until the 7km mark, i started to slow down at ard ECP area. I half walked half run until the 14km mark. From then on, it is disastrous. The make-shift road (those meant for construction worksite) is so uneven and muddy, not sure why it is planned that way. To avoid any injuries, i walked thru out the whole route till the Marina Barrage (abt 1.5km away). After that, i continued my run. Partly due to some muscle-ache on my thigh area, i struggled to complete the race. In the end, i took abt 2hrs 52mins 07 sec to finish (my expected timing is 2.5hrs). (Will update again once i got the actual timing).

At Pandang, it is more worse. The field is all covered by mud, and i have to maneuver ard to collect the finisher meadal and drinks. In the end, my shoes became brown. Luckily, once i reached home, it started to run hreavily up till now. And my next run? The KPE 10km run in September... :)

* Congratulate to my colleague Jasper, for completed the run too.

*** Tomasz Kuszczak (Poland/ Manchester Utd): This is not a very special figure. But is rare coz he is the 2nd choice Goalkeeper in Manchester Utd. Normally, only the first choice keeper from each club is released in the Series. But for Series 40, he is released too after Van Der Saar in Series 32. Two keepers to be released in a club. 1st time...

Primary School Reunion 2008

Wow, it's been 15 yrs since i last saw my primary 3 classmates from Cedar. I am in P3-2, and after which, there is some changes here & there and we are shuffled into diff. classes. Even though it is only a small groups of 4 (includ. me) turning up ytd, it is still quite a miracle to see one another after all these yrs. They are Matt, Serena & Alec. Matt is taller and slimmer now, Serena is prettier and Alec is a bit flabby. But there isn't much changes to their face though.

After we met, we went for dinner. Then took a walk to Sky Garden and chat. I have a poor memory, so sometimes need to think hard if they mentioned a name of who & who? and especially those teachers that have taught us before. Actually there is a reunion last yr, but i am not informed of. So this yr, it is so fortunate that the no. ppl attending manages to increase by 1 (that's me). Otherwise, most of my classmates are either overseas now or working ytd.

But overall, i have really need to thanks them for organizing this reunion and hopefully more of them can able to meet next time. Thanks to you all :)

16 days of enjoyment, now back to reality...

It's been a week since i came back from UK, and i have finally managed to shake off the jet-lag problem now. For the 1st few days since i'm back, i can't really sleep well during the night as it is about 3 to 4 pm in UK then. But i have to adjust back fast as i have to go straight back to work the following day after touchdown.

Well, this is my 1st time going overseas with a fren, and this experience is really great. We followed the tube map, did some research online & with some help from his sis & brother-in-law, we can basically explore anywhere within the zone 1 to 3. Anything further than that, we have to top-up.

In UK, we been to Tower Bridge, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Madame Tussard, the Emirate stadium, the Stamford Bridge etc just to name a few. Outside the zone 3, is windsor castle & the Old Trafford.

Then we went to France for 4 days, Eiffel Tower, the Lourve Pyramid, Arc De Triomphe Etoile, Notre Dame, Stade de France etc.

The ability to spend & not working is great, as you can enjoy & relax urself there w/o worry abt anything at all. Just sleep, eat, spend & take photos. The most nasty part abt this is that, someday ur enjoyment will end and this is when you are back to reality.

Back to Singapore, right after i landed, i started to work the next day. All the work that i have abandoned for 2.5 weeks all came to haunt me: urgent shipment, endless problemetic product failures, missing tools & equipment, broken pins etc.
Then the following week, my part-time school term start, lesson on Mon, Wed & Fri every week from 1800 to 2100.

All these, i have to endure for the next 4 yrs. And hopefully, that's is when i can go on holiday again :)

*** Old Trafford - the Theatre of Dream: it's is really my dream comes true to visit the stadium of my favourite team of all times, Manchester United since 1997. The journey is expensive, but it's just a once in a lifetime experience. :)

Increment + Bonus week!

Juz got my 2nd increment and bonus last Friday, this time round it seems to be a lot more as compared to my previous one. Overall, quite satisfied. Anyway, this amt. of $$$ come at the right time too, its 2 more days to my UK trip and it can more or less contributed to the air ticket & expenses too. Hopefully next year can have a lot more, haha... a bit too greedy...

Good sleep... ZZZzzz...

Finally got a good sleep yesterday since Euro 2008 started, i chose not to watch the match between Croatia & Turkey as i expected a boring draw, and true indeed it played right till the end after 120 mins play, Turkey won on penalties! Very lucky for Turkey to reach the semi=final.

So another busy week has passed, and i survived thru again. Ever since i start to go down hard on those process owner, i have been finding every little faults or mistakes that i can to cover my own back. If not, when things happen, they will blame the Product ppl of not doing their job to detect the problem earlier. I have to be the villian to start this going, too bad... Hope all things go well then. :)

Passion Run 2008 (8th Jun)

It's been a week since last Sunday passion run at ECP, it's my 1st time participating in this run. I took part in the Men's open 10km run, and i only managed to complete it in 1:09:20. It is way off my expecting timing due to a stupid rice dumpling that i ate as breakfast! i nearly thrown out towards the half way mark (5km U-turn point), but i slowed down for it to stabilize and then continue... And partly also due to the lack of warm-up at the start as i reached the start-point on time and start running straight away.

Overall, it's a good run despite the rice dumpling trouble. Next will be the SAFRA run in the coming August. :)

*** Eric Cantona & Ryan Giggs (Manchester United) - grey away kit. These 2 figures are two of the rare redemption figures that are released during the pre-1995 period. They can be considered as the pioneer batch of redemption released up till the very current Series 38. :)

Spend, spending, spent... and clocking...

Yeah, Great Singapore Sale is here...! Actually quite a number of things to look for, clothes, shoes, toys etc... So tempting to buy whenever there is a sale coming... But have to think carefully before regretting...

Today just went to JB and grab a pants from S&K for RM43.60 (60% off)! About SGD$18.70 only, whoa! Haha, luckily today not many ppl going JB, the waiting time to clear the custom is fast, almost no queue at all. Hopefully can grab some more locally these few days...

And back to work, recent implementation of clocking system add-on to the daily boring life at work in my company. As expected, this system is full of flaws.
  • Clock more than 2 times per day & you will have a very messy record of your starting & ending working time

  • Forgot to clock will make you invisible for the day (on leave/ MC?)

  • Late clocking will give you more OT pay? (fat hope! must have the supervisor acknowledge)

But thanks to this system, it now make us more punctual to stop our work and leave the company on time. Hehe...

... ... ...

3 days of rest this weekend, so relaxing. After jogging on last Tuesday & Thursday, its time for me to take a good rest. Its quite amazing that i managed to jog on Thursday given my muscle usually ache on the 2nd day after excising. Tuesday i completed 6 rounds (2.4km), Thursday 15 rounds (6km).

So, another week has past, and yet boring work continue... i am currently collecting the Doraemon Euro 2008 magnets, i left a couple more and will be completed. Hopefully it wouldn't cost me much. Back to normal, and back to boring work...

After 2 posts of absence, my figures collection is back on track, here you go...

Bread "TALK"

3/4 of my long weekends has passed, sad... so fast! Nothing to do, so let's talk about bread this week. Have you ever wonder how nice a bread can taste like with diff. combination of ingredients?
For example, during my primary school days, there is one stall at Block B used to sell nuggets, fish fillets, fried eggs or hotdogs etc, but it do have the service of having all these wrapped over with a slice of bread, weird? That's what i think then. But, the taste is quite refreshing.

Then in my army days, there is always one set of breakfast which i loved best. It has 2 types of bread - 1 hotdog bread & 1 burger bread. It also includes a hotdog, a chicken fillet, scrambled eggs and tomato beans. Very fabulous breakfast to have, but take quite a while to finish all!

Next come to my working days, everytime w/o failed after my dine, i will still look for some snacks to fill up my remaining empty space in my stomach. Bakery shop is my ideal place for that. One bread managed to catch my attention and it becomes my TOP Bread so far. This bread is made from Crystal Jade My Bread, its name is 2-colour Danish. What so special about this bread? Its main body is Croissant, stuffed with 2 diff. type of cream: custard & chocolate. Price? SGD$1.50 only! Ever since i got my 1st taste of that, i will never forget the taste of having the luxury of custard & choco together with Croissant. So whenever there is a CJMB outlets nearby, i will sure buy it. If not, i will compare and rate if the bread i am going to buy is comparable to 2-colour Danish in term of price & ingredients.

Despite this and up till this days, i am still continue my hunting for tasty & worthy bread... :)

11 yrs back...

Last Friday, having dine with my 4 sec sch frens at Suntec. We selected a vegetarian restaurant and ordered some food. After dine, the rating of the food there is poor. 1st, the creamy sauce from the spaghetti tasted horribly enough to make you throw out. Mine is simply juz a "fried" spaghetti and the curry baked rice is filled with many chilli padi instead of curry. This restaurant is black-listed for sure! Haha...

Then, we proceed to the Old Airport road hawker centre for desserts. We reached there by 10pm and left at 1am. It is really such a nice occasion to sit down together and recalled back all the good & bad happening during our sec sch days after 11 yrs...

"How our class having the worst reputation among all even though we are the 2nd best in the express class? How we get reprimanded and make to stand at the car park for almost half a day under the hot sun? How we are banned from opening our class window because of a water-melon skin? How we make our form teacher cried due to our mischievous? How Bon Jovi become our exam-inspired song during our exam period?...

Haha... Really appreciate the gathering and hope to have this regularly. Thanks, my fren :)

Cheapo Lobster!

This is my 2nd time patronised Toa Payoh for cheap and worth-spending food within a month. 1st with my colleagues, and now with my bro.

Well, this place is located near TPY Lor 4, a very old neighbourhood area and is not so easy to spot this restaurant among these. My bro said here is famous for their reasonable and affordable lobster meal, price ranges from S$15 to S$20. So I ordered a Lobster with Chicken set meal as recommended and waited for 15mins.

Here is my personal view for this set meal:
- Soup and garlic bread are served before the meal
Canned soup, diluted and tasteless :(
- Lobster with Chicken
Reasonable Lobster size, nice tender chicken :)
- Coffee and snack
Vending machine Nescafe coffee, acceptable almond Choco cake :l
Price: S$15.50 + S$2.80 (set meal) = S$18.30.

Verdict: This coffee shop sized restaurant is too small when the place is over-crowded during peak hours. Service is good and meal is affordable. Some of the negative point is the cheapo vending machine coffee and canned tasteless soup. Else, it will be perfect. My rating: 6.5/10.

Primary reunion...@ FaceBook

1996, that's the year i left my primary school 12 yrs ago. I have almost lost contact with all of my primary school mates. Even if i see them on a street, i may not recognise them now. Thanks and credits to the wonderful function and application of FaceBook, i managed to recall and reunite with them after such a long time. Especially those from my Class 3-2 in 1993, which stretched by to 15 yrs ago! One of my best pal, Alec actually make an effort to search high & low to tag and gather everyone back together. Thanks Alec!

enrolment blue :(

German Bundesliga Microstars Series 13:

After 8 mths long wait and S$400 spent, finally i got to know my result for my enrolment to NUS part-time course yesterday. Initially, i am looking forwards to the application result everyday. And once i finally received the result, i am more than happy to be enrolled into NUS. But here comes the dilemma, i have only 4 mths of freedom left! Oh, and i need to juggle between my work and studies for the next 3.5 yrs time... Haizzz, no doubt there will be a tough road ahead for me, i think i have to adjust and ready to take up the challenge... But let me enjoy my remaining 4 mths freedom 1st... :)

And i got it at S$23.65! Great deal for 21 microstars...

Say "Cheese" :)

RAT loves CHEESE and so do i. Last Wed, i tried a American cheese cake from Cafe Cartel for breakfast. Thgh the size is small, the taste is quite nice and cheesy, not too dry. Then the following day, i have a Blueberry Delight Cheesecake and a Chicago Cheesecake as snack. These 2 types are actually the same except for the Blueberry topping. Taste-wise, it is quite similar to the one from Wed.

Overall, i have quite a cheeezy week and its my pleasure to try various type of cheesecake. Credits go to my colleagues who bought me there. Thanks!

OT Record !

This week i have broken my personal OT record since i came to this company: > 25hrs in 5 days (included 3 consecutive days OT streak) so far... Juz back from work now to update this record...

Ironically, i also managed to find back my missing folder, which somehow hide among the other folder relating to my product (i have called the service desk to retrieve my missing folder, dunno what can they retrieve if a folder is actually not deleted?). Tough luck...

PS: By the way, i have changed my pictures at the bottom of my blog. Instead of those soccer figures i am collecting, it becomes some of my favourites pictures taken so far... Thanks!

Hat-trick ! ! !

Ever since i started changing boss till now, everytime w/o failed that either my boss herself or his wife will be expecting. Haha... This time round has actually make it 3 in a row... Yeah, congrats to them of being a parent soon...

Next, i am starting to minimize my spending on those corinthian soccer figures that i am collecting as a hobby so far... But minimize does not mean stop buying, but in a more thrifty way. :) Coz, i think it will be more worth to spend $$$ on some other things that are more practical such as a new handphone? clothes? a SLR camera by the end of this year? or even a car? Haha... just some of my wish list this year. So start SAVE $$$ now... !

Sad, need to go back to company later today, cya in my next post :)

Back to poly... ...

Recently, my mind is having a hard time recalling those poly stuff i studied 4 yrs ago... Coz my current boss is teaching me how to analysis the internal circuit for my very very small product (abt the size of a pencil tip). U will be amazed by how this very very small product can have so many many complicated components to form up a complicated circuit. This is something i am getting use to. Things like transistor, pnp or npn, binary bit combination, bypass filter etc are all coming back to find me. Have to crack my brain & find my past textbooks again. Hope by next wk or so i can recall some... Haizzz... getting more white hair soon...

"xiao di"

Haizzz... Being the 2nd youngest guy in my working department. There is not much chances for me to meet gal which is younger than me. The nearest age gap? +2, which is 2 yrs older than me. For me, age is nt a prob, is the chemistry or the "click" factor. But most wont prefer "xiao di" as their bf, as they may have to look after him instead. Haha... Does age really matter? Since that's the case, i have to try my luck else where, somewhere where i am not "xiao di".

Talking abt my name being called in my company, actually i have many diff. ways or versions created by my colleagues.

Original is NiCholas.

Here are the list of diff. versions created:

  • NiCurse? (y curse me?)
  • Niclose? (i am very open)
  • "ke le" aka coke? (i like coke light)
  • NiC (still acceptable)
  • "xiao di" (most popular by aunties)
So sad to say that sometimes being called by your original name is better, coz ppl may not be able to pronouce ur nick properly. And this "xiao di" has to seek his partner elsewhere. :(

My RAT year!

Yeah! Welcome to my RAT year... ... Its my 3rd time celebrating in the year of RAT since i was born. Hope this will be the year of Good Luck for me.

My wish for this year? Hmmm... Probably my top priority is further studies. My work is kind of stagnated now and there's some free time for me to take up a part-time course after work. Anyway, the result will be released by April.

Next will be some of my short-term goals, such as a better camera, DIVX DVD player etc... This will come later ba. Currently cant think of much.
So in the year of RAT, i wish all my relatives, friends & colleagues a Happy prosperity, fruitful, healthy & wealthy new year. Meanwhile, do enjoy my year! :)
